I spent last night in Tekapo and was hoping for an opportunity to do an astro shoot, however the weather decided not to play ball. Fingers crossed tonight will deliver. 😁🤞🏼
Today I drove out to Mt Cook to check out Tasman lake and put to use a recently acquired set of optical filters by @breakthrough.photography. Needless to say they delivered a result.
I walked out to the southern shore of Tasman lake and worked a few spots just where semi-submerged rocks were in parts of especially turbulent water. The idea of this was to create a dynamic foreground.
In the background and to the left is mount Cook, unfortunately shrouded in cloud.
Tasman Lake is a proglacial lake formed by the recent retreat of the Tasman Glacier in mount Cook national park.
This image was taken using a combination of optical filters fitted over the camera lens. A 6 stop ND, 2 stop GND and a circular polarizer. Their purpose is to increase the dynamic range of the exposure and reduce the amount of light entering the lens to enable long exposure times.
