My first night out shooting astro with the new kit was in the early hours of ANZAC day this year.
I ventured out onto the rocks at the point of Castor bay.
I knew the tide would be low, it was a moonless night & the milky way core would rise up behind Rangitoto island during the course of the night.
This was my favourite image of the night.
For this image I’ve combined two exposures at different aperture and focal points to give sharp detail in both the foreground & the sky.
I also used a bit of light painting with my torch at the time of capture to brighten up the foreground and add some interesting contrast.
