Despite having been seemingly inactive in the world of social media recently, I have been quite busy with a few projects.
These two framed images have been in the pipeline for the last month or so.
There has been a little bit of back and forth while critiquing the images between myself and the printing company, but I think we’ve got them pretty close to perfect.
The Black and White framed image is one I’ve named “Sea Creature”.
It’s a colossal piece of driftwood that was washed up along Buffalo beach a few moths ago.
The contrast created by the low angle of the sun on the log itself and also the encroaching shell banks made for an incredibly detailed black and white image.
Using a neutral density filter at the time of capture allowed me to blur the motion of the waves and create a soft misty effect, which makes for a nice textural contrast against the harder details in the foreground.
This piece has been printed using Archival grade inks and watercolour textured paper, and set in a conservation grade frame.
The unmistakable photo of that Wanaka tree and Mt Alta, I’ve named “Morning serenity” as it fits the ambience at the time of capture.
I shot this image while visiting the south island in October this year.
I sacrificed getting my boots and socks soaked in lake Wanaka during sunrise, standing in this one spot waiting for the sunlight to strike the top of the mountains.
I’m really pleased with the way this image came out, and it’s currently one of my favorite compositions.
This image is printed on canvas and stretched onto an A3 sized frame.
Again, Archival inks and UV resistant coatings have been used to ensure the longevity of this piece of photography.
They will be on display from this week at Mosaic Gallery in Whitianga.
I have a few more images that will be printed and framed in the next couple of weeks. Watch this space!
