I took my camera out for a morning stroll down to the water front and the Church of the good shepherd earlier in the week. I’d gotten home from work around 4:30am and could already see the clouds beginning to turn red. Turned out to be an absolute stunner of a sunrise! Lupin bloom is in full swing here at the moment too! Look at all that yummy colour!😍
What a place to live!

Situated on the shore of Lake Tekapo, the Church of the Good Shepherd, built in 1935, was the first church in the Mackenzie Basin. It was built as a memorial to the pioneers of the region and as a common place of worship for people of all types of Christianity, from around the district.
The church was designed by Christchurch architect Richard Harman, based around drawings by a local artist, Esther Hope.
The stones used in it’s construction are not cut in any way. They were carefully selected from the landscape within an 8km raduis of the site of the church and were naturally shaped by the glacier that was formerly in place of lake Tekapo hundreds of thousands of years ago.
The Church of the good shepherd is undoubtedly the most photographed in New Zealand, and features an altar window that frames views of the blue lake and the mountains.
